What is considered living? In biology, to live is to be able to reproduce. The status of living is conferred to species, not individuals within species.

What is species? It is related reproduction, where two individuals are considered the same species if they can produce offspring.

What about clonal organisms? What about virus? Is natural selection needed for something to be alive?

I don’t think nature cares about this at all.
